Buffers

We have over 50 years of experience in providing biological buffers which have been used as components in biopharmaceuticals, cell culture media, diagnostic reagents and life science research. Our biological buffers are scalable, regardless of need or requirement, are manufactured under stringent quality systems and are available in custom formats.

  1. HEPES BUFFER

HEPES (4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazineethanesulfonic acid ) is a zwitterionic organic chemical buffering agent. Because of it’s ability to maintain physiological pH Hepes Buffer is widely used in cell cuture. HEPES is like water in that its dissociation decreases as the temperature decreases. This makes HEPES a more effective buffering agent for maintaining enzyme structure and function at low temperatures.

2. LYSIS BUFFER

The buffer name already described the function. This buffer is used to lyse cells with an object to isolate some of cellular materials mainly used to isolate genomic materials, DNA. Most lysis buffers contain salts (Tris-HCl or EDTA) to regulate the acidity and osmolarity of the lysate, while detergents (such as Triton X-100 or SDS) are added to break up membrane structures to isolate the the object of interest (mainly DNA) in application area of molecular biology.
Ammonium sulfate is a widely used reagent in molecular biology and chromatography. It is basically used in salting out, salting in processes including the precipitation and fractionation of proteins, crystallization of proteins and of protein-nucleic acid complexes. Ammonium sulfate is also widely used in HPLC of proteins, such as in hydrophobic interaction chromatography. It is extensively used in antibody purification.
Tris-glycine buffer is used to make a Tris-glycine-methanol transfer buffer, which is the most common protein transfer buffer for wet blot transfers. Tris-Glycine Buffer is used for Western blotting and gel electrophoresis. The methanol prevents the gel from swelling during the transfer and enhances the protein binding to nitrocellulose. According to it’s application, Tris-Glycine Buffer is used for Western blotting and gel electrophoresis.
